Assembly election results: BJP pushes ahead in the northeast, makes huge electoral gains

BJP has managed to generate their spread even in the northeast, a region it wasn’t even in the standing five years ago.

The three states’ Assembly polls counting is taking place and the trends indicate the BJP will cause the Congress to lose Meghalaya, beat the might Left in Tripura and pose a serious challenge to the ruling Naga People's Front (NPF).

While Congress may lose one more state with Meghalaya, the Left might be left with only one state - Kerala and the regional parties becoming kingmakers.

The BJP which already rules 19 of 29 states is ready to spread its saffron colour to the northeast after having established its strength in Assam, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.

The BJP is reaping in rewards, thanks to its massive infrastructure development move in the northeast particularly in the road and rail.

Coming to Tripura, BJP is leading in 38 of 59 seats with CPM ahead in just 20 seats. The BJP's alliance with the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) becoming a huge outreach effort among the tribal community that makes up 31 percent of the state's population working in their favour.

BJP clearly outlined employment opportunities promising special economic zones for bamboo, textiles and food processing along with setting up autonomous state council that would have access to funds directly from the Centre.
