Special Category Status protests: Parties vie on Delhi streets
New Delhi: "Divided we stand, United we fall" is the quirky message conveyed by the AP leaders to the nation here on Monday. The Telugu Desam Party, the YSRCP and the Congress leaders of AP presented a contrasting picture to the bewildered Delhiites, several of whom (the passers-by) asked "why cannot you fight unitedly for the cause of your state?"
Just look at the way these parties campaigned here against the Centre to impress upon it the need to declare the Special Category Status. The TDP chose protests inside and out the Parliament in its trademark style while bargaining for the SCS or Special Economic Package or "any other immediate relief that gets reflected on the ground in the form of fund releases.” While it no doubt attacked the Centre, it chose to attack both the YSRCP and the Congress equally for the mess that the State was in now.
The YSRCP, on the other hand, targeted the TDP more and the BJP less for the denial of the SCS category to AP. Of course, it had the company of the CPI and CPM leaders too in this assault before trying to take out a rally on the Parliament Street only to get arrested and released later.
It was one more all-paid dharna anyway for those who flocked to the Capital in the pleasant weather. Then we had the APCC leadership which strangely chose to lodge a criminal complaint against Chief Minister of AP and the Prime Minister accusing them of cheating the people of AP in not implementing the promises of the AP Reorganization Act, 2014.
