Rahul Gandhi joins TDP protest over special status in Delhi
Congress President Rahul Gandhi joined the protests being staged by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in New Delhi on Tuesday. The TDP leaders have launched the protest in demand for the Central government's promised special status, following the bifurcation of united Andhra Pradesh.
Sharing a stage with the protesting TDP leaders, Rahul Gandhi said that the Congress is in favour of special category status for Andhra Pradesh and will grant it to the state, once they come to power in 2019.
He further said that they can together convince the Centre and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Accompanied by other senior Congress leaders including Ghulam Nabi Azad and Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi asserted that what is due to the people of AP should be given to them.
