Naxal attack in Sukma: 9 CRPF personnel martyred, 10 others injured
In a Maoist attack that took place in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh’s Bastar division on Tuesday, nine CRPF personnel were martyred and 10 others injured.
Four of them are said to be in a critical condition.
Reports suggest that the personnel were out on a combing operation on the Mine Protected Vehicle (MPV) when they were attacked by heavy explosives which triggered several IEDs.
The Naxals had initially fled away after the response of 208 CoBRA but returned for another attack. The encounter took place with Naxals around 8 am on Tuesday and another team of CRPF jawans of the 212 battalions was targeted in between Kistaram and Palodi of Sukma at about 12:30 pm which blew up a Mine Protection Vehicle by triggering IED. The injured personnel got evacuated by helicopter to Raipur.
Earlier this month, the security personnel killed 10 alleged Naxalites in the state.
