Congress wins 3 RS seats in Karnataka, BJP secures 1
New Delhi: Voting for the Rajya Sabha seats in six states – Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Telangana – held on Friday. For the 58 Rajya Sabha seats to be filled, 33 candidates from 10 states have been unanimously elected. Voting for the remaining 25 seats was held in the six states. Voting for bypoll to a Rajya Sabha seat from Kerala was also held on Friday.
All the three candidates of the Congress who contested the Rajya Sabha elections from Karnataka have won, while businessman Rajeev Chandrasekhar retained his seat with the support of the BJP. Results in other states:
• Chhattisgarh — 1 seat, won by BJP
• Kerala — 1 seat, won by Janata Dal
• Telangana — 3 seats, all won by TRS
• AP— 3 seats, TDP wins 1 seat (unanimous)
• W Bengal — 5 seats, TMC bags 4 seats, Congress takes 1
