Update: 2018-03-27 07:12 IST

The rumours circulating on social media regarding the five days long holidays for banks in March last week had created tension in people's day to day dealings. Well unlike what news that gone viral, banks won't remain closed starting from Marck 29.

The All India Bank Officers Confederation General Secretary D Thomas Franco Rajendra Dev, dismissed holidays rumours. Banks will work on March 31 (Saturday) and remain closed on Thursday and Friday due to Mahaveer Jayanthi and Good Friday.

However, April 2, Monday, would be a non-working day as banks will be shut for the annual closing of accounts. ATMs are most likely to function smoothly without any 'no cash boards' as the maintenance of cash in ATMs are outsourced to third parties.

Dev, confirmed that the banks will continue with their operations as usual apart from the two above mentioned holidays.
