Two killed, another injured in explosion in fireworks factory in Tamil Nadu

Two workers of a fireworks unit at Kovilpatti near here were killed and another suffered serious injuries in an explosion in the factory this morning, police said.

Murugan, Chandran and Irulappan were mixing chemicals when the explosion took place, suspected to have been caused due to friction, police said.

While Murugan and Chandran died on the spot, Irulappan suffered 80 per cent burns.

Fire and rescue services personnel and police rescued Irulappan and admitted him to hospital.

Only three workers were present in the factory at the time of the explosion, police said.
