West Bengal: BJP leader attacked over Panchayat nominations
Half a dozen men attacked a BJP leader in Bankura of West Bengal on Friday.
The BJP leader who arrived at the District Magistrate's office to file a complaint about the violence over filing nominations for the panchayat polls slated for next month claimed that the attack was carried out by supporters of the Trinamool Congress.
The attackers, covered their faces with helmets or scarves smashed the rear windshield of the BJP leader's vehicle, threw him to the ground and thrashed him after he stepped out of the vehicle.

In regard to the submission of nominations to almost 60,000 panchayat seats, West Bengal has witnessed occasional violence. The voting for the panchayat seats will be held on May 1, 3 and 5.
While the Opposition parties, including the BJP, CPM and Congress are claiming that the Trinamool is not allowing their candidates to file nominations but the West Bengal's ruling party has categorically denied the charges, stating that the opposition has filed as many nominations as them.
