NEW DELHI:
A Pakistani singer was shot dead while she was performing at a crowded musical event in Sindh province on Tuesday evening.
The singer, Samina Samoon, who was six months pregnant was asked to stand and sing at Kanga village by a man identified as Tarique Ahmed Jatoi. While she reportedly refused, Samina was later coaxed by the others present at the event.
However, as she got on her feet, the accused, who was drunk, apparently took out a revolver and fired at her forehead point blank in public glare.
A video clip of Samina surfaced two days after the murder and was shared on Twitter by an Islamabad-based human rights activist, Mr Kapil Dev.
The accused has been arrested and police are investigating further.
Samina's husband has demanded the FIR be charged on the accused of double murder for killing his wife and the baby.
