Nemesis of Modiji is from within his group and not from opposition
One may search where is the Modiji who was praised and valued by all sections of people in India way back in 2014? Where is the Modiji who was applauded by lakhs of people in Madison Square Garden in US? Where is the Modiji who was seen as the only and ultimate hope of India? BJP members may rightfully argue that Modiji is here, there and everywhere. Even they may quote the versus of Portia in Merchant of Venice that
“That light we see is burning in my hall.
How far that little candle throws his beams!
So shines a good deed in a naughty world”
The wicked ploy of opposition parties has caused enough confusion in the country and in such confusion people are missing to see Modiji and his great deeds that would be the possible argument of BJP. Today we search ‘the Modiji of 2014’ not because of the confusion created by the opposition parties but it is all due to the making of BJP and its religious patriotism and swadeshi push.
Invoking and infusing religious nationalism and patriotism in a meek manner to reform the way we think, to ease our tension and worry due to our over attachment on the materialistic life style and for inculcating value based education would do no harm. But the tragedy of the experiment attempted by Modiji has created fear of devastating consequences to not only to our education but also to the leadership charisma of Modiji and his political acumen as well.
One of the worst nightmares created by Modiji was the bridge course proposal in NMC bill for graduates from faith healing system to practice allopathic drugs to scuttle the shortage of doctor in rural India. Although the proposal was scrapped by the cabinet but it was too late and too little to heal the damage it has done to the reputation of Modiji.
People got shocked by the utterances of the Minister of Science and Technology about the greatness of cow urine at a time when Modiji promote the governance idea of digital India, E and M governance. Knowingly or unknowingly Modiji has allowed all such wits and humors to co-exist with his real vision of India i.e., development, sab ka vikas, ache din and New India.
It is not the intolerance of Modiji that has caused great reputation loss but his too much of tolerance towards the verbal diarrhea of none less than the Minister of Science and Technology and the Niti Ayog for having come up with the idea of legalizing cross pathy.
If Modiji has used all such wits and funny stuffs just for politics, none would have bothered and even today Modiji would remain as great leader to people. But when the attempts were made to destroy the health care delivery system and tunnel the merits of proven medical science with faith healing practices, the educated people and youths saw another face of Modiji which questioned the iconic image of Modiji.
Development and reform initiatives began by Modiji in the beginning has indeed raised the hope and satisfaction of people. Everyone started to see Modiji as real phenomena and true leader of India. Seeing such raise of Modiji perhaps would have affected the sleep of the nemesis from within his group. Ironically the nemesis that worked against Modiji has come not from the opposition parties but from within, in the form of religious nationalism.
Unnecessary Modiji pushed the faith practices as science to the modern world may be to appease the religious nationalists. No one questions his commitment and necesity to please religious nationalists but India shocked by how such appeasement can be allowed to dilute and corrode the scientific temperament and to jeopardize the health care system in India. Further it also created anguish in the minds of qualified doctors that their merits and hard work may go defunct and meaningless when quackery and cross pathy is legalized in the name of religious nationalism and call it as sacred effort to meet the shortage of doctor in rural India.
Modiji should have prevailed upon the lobby that wants its share of flesh considering how such favour would risk the health of poor people in India. When one obvious wrong move of Modiji was out, people started to review the performance of Modiji vis-à-vis the promises that he made to conclude that Modiji is mere rhetoric and an image of promise than performance.
Time is not too late for course correction. Faith based practices and occultism should not be used to adulterate our science or education and this message Modiji should send out clearly.
People still see Modiji as a great leader but who is thought to be imprisoned by some religious nationalists must seek his freedom.
