Actor-turned-politician MG Ramachandran was a legend and his hold continues to sway over Dravidian politics, even decades after his death. Now, actor Rajinikanth who has decided to plunge into politics is establishing his new party on the lines of ADMK with an assurance to provide an MGR-style government.

While Tamil Nadu is waiting patiently for the announcement of a new political outfit, reports suggest that an advisory board is being set up comprising contemporaries of the AIADMK founder and are likely to include politicians, retired civil servants, industrialists, educationists or activists.

Sources said the board is aimed to provide valuable inputs to Rajinikanth to draft a policy in sync with his slogan to offer a government similar to that of MGR.

The actor in a bit to repeat the successful MGR formula is picking up ‘some honest leaders with integrity’ within AIADMK and those who have crossed over to other parties.

Rajinikanth took a significant political leap at an event organized by one of his trusted associates, educationist and leader of the New Justice Party A C Shanmugam’s Dr MGR Educational and Research Institute in Chennai in March. During the event, the actor stated that while he may not be MGR but has the capability to provide a government that MGR gave people of Tamil Nadu.

According to Shanmugam, Rajinikanth was indeed talking to MGR associates from various fields.

Sources reveal that Rajinikanth’s party will be hoping to emulate the successful ADMK launched by MGR in 1971 and have no room for corruption while incorporating the dynamic structures of a present-day political party.

It is learned that the actor is set to announce the name of his party by May-end.
