Noida girl scores 499 out of 500!
New Delhi: The CBSE on Saturday announced the results for Class XII examinations and the top three positions have been clinched by girls. With 499 marks out of 500, Meghna Srivastava from Noida's Step by Step School secured the first position, followed by Anoushka Chandra of Ghaziabad's SAJ School at 498 and Chahat Bodhraj from Jaipur's Neerja Modi School at the third position with 497 marks. Besides, Chahat, six others got 497 marks out of 500.
Ludhiana's Astha Bamba, Tanuja Kapri from Haridwar, Supriya Kaushik from Noida, Ghaziabad's Nakul Gupta, Kshitij Anand from Vasundhra and Ananya Singh from Meerut shared the third berth. A student of Humanities, Meghna Srivastava aspires to be a psychologist.
When the results were declared, she was surprised to find her name on the top of the list. "I never stressed about the exams. In fact, I didn't take any tuition classes. I just maintained consistency," she said. The magical figure of 99.8 per cent has brought her closer to her dream.
Similarly, Chahat Bodhraj, is passionate about art and psychology and has actively participated in debates and recitations. Girls yet again outperformed boys with an overall passing percentage of 88.31 compared to 78.09 of boys.
The overall pass percentage is 83.01 and the top three regions are Trivandrum with 97.32 per cent, Chennai with 93.87 per cent and Delhi with 89. The results can be checked on: cbseresults.nic.in and cbse.nic.in. Class X results are expected to be announced in the next two days.
The CBSE exams this year were mired in controversy after the Class 12 economics and Class 10 mathematics papers were allegedly leaked, triggering criticism against the board over the way the exams were conducted.
A re-test was held for Class XII Economics but the board decided against one for Class X Mathematics paper.
