Tripura govt has taken many decisions for people's welfare: CM

Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Saturday said the BJP-IPFT government in the state has taken several decisions for the welfare of the people, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas'.

"We are working to extend electricity in all villages of the state.

529 villages are currently without power supply.

We asked the Centre to grant funds to equip them with solar power apparatus.

They have granted our plea," Deb said. He also criticised the erstwhile Left Front government for "misrule" and said they can compare the 'report card' of 25 years with that of the current dispensation's two-and-half-months.

Deb said the Central government was completely free of corruption and had achieved great milestones in education, public healthcare, insurance, infrastructure, poverty alleviation and other sectors.

The CM said the Centre has provided Rs 7,269 crore to Tripura in different sectors, apart from the Budgetary allocation in the last four years.

"A sum of Rs 300 crore was provided as special fund and Rs 500 crore additional fund is in the pipeline under the Special Plan Assistance (SPA)," he said.

Hailing the Act East Policy of the Central government, Deb said the region has extensively benefited during the current tenure of the NDA regime.

The Tripura unit of the BJP would also launch a 16-day long campaign in the state to highlight the major achievements of the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre, the party's state general secretary Rajib Bhattacharya said.
