Class 12 text book of the Gujarat Board misprints Lord Rama as Sita’s abductor
The story of Ramayana is one that everyone in India has read or heard, the main part of Ramayana being the abduction of Sita by Ravana.
A textbook in Gujarat, of class 12, has a printing mistake which changed the abductor from Ravana to Lord Rama.
The printing mistake was in the following line in the introduction
“Here the poet has brought out a beautiful picture of the character of Rama with his original thought and thinking. There is a very heart-touching description of the message conveyed by Laxman to Ram when Sita was abducted by Rama(sic)”
When questioned about the mistake the executive president, Dr Nitin Pethani, denied any knowledge of the mistake at first, but later admitted that it was an error which occurred only in the English version of the textbook, as the Gujarati one had no such error.
