Normal monsoon for North-West India after four years
The Meteorological Department of India has announced that the chances of rainfall this monsoon in North-West India is 100 percent, which indicates a normal monsoon.
After four years of abnormal rain, this monsoon is a welcome change.
North-West India is the last part from which the monsoon passes through, which means that average rainfall in the area tends to be lesser than the remaining sub-continent. This means that when India goes through a bad monsoon,it’s generally worse in the North-West.
There has been no drastic effect on agriculture due to the perennial rivers and irrigation, but this year the water levels in the rivers have been low, due to less winter rains in the Western Himalayas. The indication of a normal monsoon is a news to be happy for, this year.
