Green light for Metro's Green Line : Mundka-Bahadurgarh section

New Delhi: Operations will soon begin on the 11.2-km-long fully-elevated section between Mundka and Bahadurgarh of the Delhi Metro's Green Line as the commissioner for metro rail safety (CMRS) has given approval for starting passenger services.

However, the mandatory nod from the CMRS has been given, subject to the fulfilment of certain conditions and stipulation, the Delhi Metro said on Friday. 

The Mundka-Bahadurgarh stretch, with seven stations, would be an extension of the existing Green Line (standard-gauge tracks) from Inderlok to Mundka, and, after the completion of this corridor, the entire Inderlok–Bahadurgarh section would become 26.33 km. 

"The Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety has given approval for starting passenger operations on the 11.2-km-long fully-elevated section between Mundka and Bahadurgarh, 
subject to fulfilment of certain conditions and stipulation," a senior DMRC official said. 

Officials said the CMRS approval will pave the way for operationalisation of this section, and passenger services will thus begin soon. 

"The exact date of opening of this corridor will be intimated after compliance of the same by the DMRC," he said. 

With the opening of this section, the Delhi Metro network will expand to 288 km with 208 metro stations. This section will be metro's third line of connectivity to the neighbouring state of Haryana. 

Metro services are already operational in Gurgaon and Faridabad. 

"This entirely elevated section will not only connect the capital city with Bahadurgarh but also provide connectivity to many outer Delhi areas of the western fringes of the city, such as Mundka, Ghevra and Tikri Kalan," the DMRC said. 

In Delhi, stations will be Mundka Industrial Area, Ghevra, Tikri Kalan and Tikri Border, while in Haryana, it will be Modern Industrial Estate, Bus Stand and City Park.
