Pakistan violates ceasefire, days after agreeing to it

On May 29, India and Pakistan had agreed to restore a ceasefire and DGMOs of both the countries had vowed to implement the pact of 2003.Pakistani rangers have violated this agreement by resorting to heavy mortar shelling on the International border, in the Pargwal sector, in Akhnoor area of Jammu, on Sunday.

Two BSF personnel were killed, 13 civilians and a cop were injured in the incident. This increases the casualty figures due to ceasefire violations to 46, in this year.The CM of Jammu and Kashmir stated that the incident was highly unfortunate, considering the recent agreement between the two government’s DGMOs.

The civilians who got injured in the incident were immediately shifted to Government Medical College, Jammu.The police in Arnia sector have alerted the civilians to stay indoors, in the event of more ceasefire violations.
