Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan on sterlite protests
Both Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan have only recently joined the Tamil Nadu politics. Both them have a similar view on the Cauvery water issue.
Rajinikanth slammed the organizers of IPL matches as the state was still on the boil on the Cauvery issue and stated the players and the people should be allowed to wear black bands to protest. Eventually, no matches were played in Chennai during this IPL season.
Kamal Haasan had also urged the PM to take action regarding the Cauvery issue. He stated Tamil people think action was not being taken, was because of the Karnataka elections.
But both of them had really varying opinions about the sterlite protests, which occured in Tuticorin.Rajinikanth, when he went to visit the injured protesters in hospital, surprisingly blamed the infiltration of anti-social elements in the anti-sterlite protests for the death of the 13 policemen.
Kamal Haasan on the other hand thinks that there were no anti-social elements in the anti-sterlite protests.
