Tamil Nadu to release 67 life convicts early

 The Tamil Nadu government announced early release of 67 life convicts, as they have completed 10 years in jail.The release stated that the government is to follow the footsteps of Puratchi Thalaivi Amma ( former CM J Jayalalithaa) and release 67 life convicts, who have completed 10 years in jail, on February 25.

The state home department issued orders and guidelines for early release in February and March, as per the powers vested in the State Governor, under Article 161. 

The statement had not mentioned the names of convicts being released and the prisons they are lodged in.
