IAS aspirant ends life, after being turned away from exam due to being late
The 28 year old UPSC aspirant, Varun Subhash Chandran, was found dead in his apartment by his friend.
The 28 year old was to attend the exam at a government school in Paharganj,had gone to the wrong centre in the same area.
He was able to reach the correct centre at 9:42, which was 12 minutes past the time till which the candidates are allowed in.
Varun pleaded with the authorities, but wasn't given permission to write the exam.
A friend of Varun, who was also writing the exam, called Varun after the exam and when Varun didn't pick up,went to Varun’s room which was locked from the inside.The friend looked through the window and found Varun hanging from the fan.
A suicide letter was found, in which Varun had stated that while the rules were correct , authorities should give some relaxation time for the greater good of the candidates.
The police were called at 5:55pm, who arrived and broke down the door. Varun was shifted to a hospital where he was declared dead.The body was sent to autopsy, after ligature marks were found.
A forensic team is to check the room for any foul play.
The body of Varun has been given to his sister and brother in law for the final rites.
