Mumbai couple commits suicide over parents disagreement for their wedding
Mumbai police reported that a Muslim youth named Salman Afroz Khan (26) and a Hindu girl, Manisha Narayan Negi (21), both residents of Thane had gone missing from their homes four days ago, since their parents opposed their relationship due to religious differences.
Early on Wednesday around 3:30 a.m, a car was found parked in the middle of the road opposite the metropolitan magistrate's court, its engine still running.
There was no response when the police knocked on the car's doors, so they broke the rear windows. The couple was found unconscious in the car and the doctors declared them dead.Their bodies were taken for post-mortem and the parents were informed after the identification and address proofs of the two youth.
After searching the car, it was found that the couple had consumed two bottles of suspected poison. No suicide note was found.
The relatives of the couple told the cops that their parents had not agreed for the marriage of the two, after five years of their relationship. They decided to end their lives together as a result of their marriage being rejected by their parents. Cops are trying to find further details on whether they were being threatened or pressured. The case was filed as an accidental death.
