MANALI: Recently, the temperatures in Himachal pradesh have been increasing, even in high altitudes. The temperatures have crossed 25-degree mark at high altitudes which has caused the melting of snow.

As the small streams and water sources in state are slowly drying up, the major rivers and their tributaries, which emerge from the glaciers, are slowly increasing in their water levels due to the melted snow.

On Tuesday, the Teling nullah between Koksar and Sissu villages started flooding. The back water, which was full of silt, started cutting soil and brought huge boulders and blocked the Manali-Leh highway.

Fortunately, all traffic stopped in time and there was no loss of lives and property.

Another nullah between Zingzingbar and Bharatpur on the Manali- Leh highway also flooded and the border road organization is clearing the debris, day and night.

These nullahs are called as ‘pagal nullahs’ as they shock people, when they flood.

A large number of people, including tourists, had to wait for the debris to be cleaned, till Wednesday morning, by the roadside.
