Pakistan asked to abide by the 2003 ceasefire agreement
NEW DELHI: In 2018 alone, there have been over a thousand violations of the 2003 ceasefire agreement of India and Pakistan, between New Delhi and Islamabad.
The ceasefire was used to infiltrate terrorists into India, and Kumar said that the results of such infiltrations do not go well, as he has seen from past experience.
MEA ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said that this matter of unprovoked ceasefire violation with the Pakistani side is taken very seriously as it involves loss of life and property.
Pakistan was asked to adhere to the 2003 ceasefire agreement and not to use its violations at Line of Control (LoC) to provide cover for infiltration on Thursday.
“We hope that Pakistan will realise what it is doing and adheres by the 2003 ceasefire agreement between the two countries”, said Kumar.
India announced a suspension of operations against militants in Jammu and Kashmir and a border truce with Pakistan on May 16 for Ramzan, and defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the Ramzan initiative will be honoured by the forces.
