NEW DELHI: The Pune police have recently arrested Dalit activist Sudhir Dhawale, lawyer Surendra Gadling, activists Mahesh Raut and Shoma Sen and Rona Wilson from Mumbai, Nagpur and Delhi respectively in connection with Elgar Parishad held in December and the subsequent Bhima-Koregaon violence in the district.

A letter has been in one of the arrested people’s house, which had plans for the assassination of PM Modi.

The letter had been found in Rona Wilson’s house, in Delhi and it refers to a requirement of Rs 8 Crore to procure M-4 rifle and four lakh rounds.

The letter states that they were thinking along the lines of another Rajiv Gandhi incident. It also stated that the plan sounds suicidal and that there is good chance that they may fail but also feels that the party must deliberate over the proposal.

The letter even mentions that PM Modi’s road show might be the best place for targeting him.

The letter also states that Modi-led Hindu fascist regime is bulldozing its way into the lives of the indigenous adivasis and that in spite of big defeats, in Bihar and West Bengal, Modi has been able to form a BJP government in more than 15 states.

While the letter is pretty convincing, the lawyers of the accused state that the documents  have been planted in the house of the  accused.

Sanjay Nirupam of Congress, also states that the letter might have been a fake that was planted and stated that such a tactic was Modi’s way to increase his popularity, whenever it falls.

CPM’s Sitaram Yechuy, on the other hand chose not to comment the truth behind the letter.
