National health insurance plan to be kickstarted
NEW DELHI:A National health insurance plan called ‘the Ayushman Bharat National Health Protection Scheme’, which is sponsored by the government, is to be kickstarted with 8 states already on board with the scheme.The Centre is to sign pacts with 12 more states this month.
The health minister J P Nadda has stated that the scheme is not for gaining any political dividends and that once the scheme is implemented,it would change the landscape of healthcare in India.The minister has also stated that the scheme would require an IT platform and that they would be releasing a standard operating procedure for the entitlement of hospitals.
The clinics which are under this scheme would be responsible for screening of people over 30 years of age and also for diseases like hypertension, tuberculosis, cancer etc.
The minister also stated that India would be eliminating tuberculosis by 2025 and Kala Azar by December this year.
