Documents related to whistleblower bureacrat Sanjiv Chaturvedi go missing from Haryana CM's office
A senior officer of Haryana government has lodged a police complaint against chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar's office after sensitive documents related to whistleblower bureacrat Sanjiv Chaturvedi's case went missing.
As per the complaint, filed on May 21 by the superintendent of the forests department, the documents pertain to a legal dispute over quashing of President's orders and a Union environment ministry panel's recommendations for a CBI probe into the scams exposed by Chaturvedi.
An RTI application, filed in March by Indian Forest Services (IFS) officer Chaturvedi, a Magsaysay awardee, had revealed that the file was not "traceable".
Four files containing sensitive official records pertaining to the legal dispute regarding quashing of President's orders and a Union government panel's recommendations for a CBI probe into the scams exposed by Chaturvedi have gone missing from Haryana governments record, the RTI application had said.
The documents had been submitted to the chief minister to decide on the withdrawal of a petition by former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, seeking quashing of the Union government panel's report indicting Hooda and senior officials for allegedly fabricating charges against The files having gone missing surfaced after Chaturvedi, now posted as conservator of forests in Uttarakhand, had sought information on these issues under the RTI on March 1 from the state government.
He was informed by Haryana's forest department that none of the documents were traceable at present and were being searched.
Chaturvedi had later written a letter to Khattar, asking him to hand over the entire matter to the CBI for a probe.
