Indian doctors and nurses removed from Tier 2 visa cap
LONDON: In recent months, tier 2 visa route, meant for highly skilled professionals, has been receiving more number of applications than the monthly allocation of places.
Indian doctors and nurses used to be a part of this tier, which means many doctors and nurses had their visas rejected.
Dr Ramesh Mehta, president of BAPIO,has stated that around 200 Indian doctors had their visa rejected due to the cap, this year.
The home office has stated that non-EU doctors and nurses will be excluded from the cap currently set at 20,700 per year on tier 2 visas, this means that an unlimited number of doctors and nurses could now work in the US.
Dr Ramesh has also stated they, at the present , needed 10,000 doctors and even more nurses, that such an opportunity would be useful for the doctors and that they would ensure that the doctors would not just be used as an extra pair hands but would receive appropriate mentoring and training.
The home office also stated that it would be simplifying visa application requirements for international students entering the UK from the selected countries under the Tier 4 visa scheme.
