New Delhi: Congress president Rahul Gandhi gave some moments of embarrassment and a moment to remember to TV cameras as soon after completing his speech on the no-trust motion walked across the aisle, went to the seat of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and hugged him. The Prime Minister felt embarrassed and confused at first at this sudden move of Rahul Gandhi.

Speaker of the Lok Sabha Sumitra Mahajan too appeared baffled as she kept on cautioning Rahul Gandhi that there was no need for such gesture. Rahul’s gesture was met with applause from the Opposition benches.

This action of Rahul assumed importance in the wake of his remarks towards the end of his speech, wherein Rahul said, “You all must think that I have a lot of hatred in my heart against the Prime Minister but actually that is not the case. In fact, Modi Ji, the BJP and the RSS taught me the meaning of being a member of the Congress party.

They have taught me the meaning of being Indian. They have taught me the meaning of being a Hindu and a devotee of Lord Shiva. Being an Indian and being a Congressman means no matter what falsehood someone speaks against you, you do not harbour ill-will against them. For this, I thank you,” he added.

He wrapped his speech saying, “Aap logon ke andar mere liye nafrat hai, aap mujhe Pappu aur bohot gaaliyan dekar bula sakte hain, lekin mere andar aapke liye nafrat nahi hai.” He then walks up to PM Modi and gives him a hug.”
