Will do everything for AP

New Delhi: "Telugu is our mother and we do everything for the development of the state of Andhra Pradesh" was Prime Minister Narendra Modi's response to AP’s demand for special category status in the Lok Sabha on Friday in his reply on the no-trust motion.

Modi began his speech with the charges levelled against him and his government by the Opposition amid disruptions by the TDP MPs which were vociferous and obliterated his speech for the most parts seeking justice to AP and asking him to address the issues raised.

He could not answer any of the questions raised by the TDP especially Jayadev Galla and Rammohan Naidu as he skirted them and only took pot shots on the Congress, but only promised that all the promises shall be kept.

He did not specify how or why it was possible and did not deem it fit to answer the TDP MPs demanding justice to AP.  In a way, helped by the Congress he ran away from answering the questions raised by the TDP.

Modi also mocked at Rahul Gandhi for hugging him, saying the Congress president was actually dreaming to be the next Prime Minister and had asked him to get up from his seat in the Lok Sabha. "Debate was not over, voting was also not over, one member came running to me saying - Utho Utho Utho... What is his hurry to come to power," Modi said, gesturing with hands and recalling how Gandhi came to hug him after his speech.

"See, who all they are trying to bring together. But they should know, we are here because we have the blessings of 125 crore Indians. We are not here for selfish interests." The Prime Minister said the no confidence motion has exposed how the Opposition is hungry for power. "What we saw among members of the Opposition was sheer arrogance.

The only thing they have to say - remove Modi. Today the nation has seen the negativity expressed by some members. They are playing negative politics. India saw how some people are so deeply opposed to development."

The PM ended his speech by throwing a challenge to the Opposition in 2024 and said, “We will do everything for the people of the country. I once again ask them to bring another no-confidence motion in 2024.” "Any incident of violence brings shame to the nation.

I will once again urge the state governments to punish those who indulge in violence," Modi said. He, however, remained quiet on whether the government plans to bring a new legislation to curtail incidents of mob violence, as suggested by the Supreme Court.
