Rahul Gandhi demands CBSE to explain about NEET candidates data leak
MUMBAI: CBSE Chairperson was demanded to direct an inquiry in the NEET data leak issue by Rahul Gandhi.
Rahul said, “I am shocked by this wide-scale theft of personal data that has compromised the privacy of candidates across the country.” To ensure the sanctity of the examination process an inquiry must be made he added.
It was believed that the website had access to 250,000 students along with their gender, roll numbers, rank in the exam as well as their mobile numbers and the data was available for payment of Rs 2 lakh.
Details of students from Karnataka, Kerala, AP, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, UP, West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand was available on the website.
The Wire also reported that the website had free samples for buyers to verify whether the data is genuine or fake.
NEET is an entrance exam conducted by the CBSE for medical colleges across the country. It was reported that more than 13 lakhs students have appeared for the exam out of which 250,000 candidates data was available for anyone to buy.
