AP won’t provide utilisation certificates for Polavaram, revenue deficit

New Delhi: AP government refused to provide utilisation certificates (UCs) for Central funds of Rs 3,979 crore released towards revenue deficit and also for Rs 6,727 crore spent on Polavaram project works so far to the Centre.

Reiterating that the state government was in no need to give any such certificates, the official team led by Planning Commission vice-chairman, Kutumba Rao, here on Friday demanded fulfillment of all promises made under the AP Reorganisation Act 2014, appearing in front of the Parliamentary Committee members.

The meeting was called for following a complaint by TDP MP K Rammohan Naidu to the Committee on the unkept promises of the Centre. The team members later disclosed that they had told the committee that the state government had submitted utilisation certificates for Rs 1,632 crore funds released for the capital works.

Similar certificates had also been forwarded to the Centre for the Rs 229 crore released for Vijayawada- Guntur drainage works as well as for Rs 946 crore released for Rs 946 crore for the backward districts.  The team handed over a booklet highlighting the injustices done to the state.
