Railway zone for AP dominates Lok Sabha

New Delhi: Separate Railway Zone for Andhra Pradesh dominated the Lok Sabha proceedings here on Tuesday with the TDP carefully strategising all the pending issues to further embarrass Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not keeping his word on the Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh.

It was the turn of Anakapalli MP Avanti Srinivas on Tuesday to attack the Centre on the unkept promise of separate Railway Zone. He raised the issue pointing to the need of the zone for AP at Visakhapatnam as it was one of the promises incorporated in the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014.

He accused the Centre of reneging on the promise to disappoint the people of AP. Wondering why the Centre was hell bent on ruining AP, he said it was not right to go back on the promise.

Earlier, Thota Narasimham said the fight for the Railway Zone and other demands would continue till they were met. The Centre had adopted a cruel stand towards AP but the TDP would continue its fight for justice both on the streets of AP and in the streets of Delhi. The fight would continue inside Parliament and outside too and the TDP was not ashamed of the same.

If any, it was the Centre that should be ashamed of it, he said. Later, a delegation of the MLAs of North Coastal Andhra Pradesh met Union minister   Piyush Goyal to impress upon him the need to establish the Railway Zone without further delay. The delegation submitted a memorandum to the minister in this regard.
