Rains lash parts of Hadouti region, three die, over 40 evacuated

Kota: Three people were killed in rain-related incidents in 24 hours as moderate to heavy rains continued to lash parts of Kota, Bundi and Baran districts of Hadoti region. 

The opening of Kota barrage on the Chambal river on Tuesday night created a flood-like situation in the region following which 45 people were evacuated from low-lying areas in Anantpura area here.

Udalal Gujar (38), a resident of Jalodi village of the Bundi district, was swept away by strong current of water into an overflowing rivulet while he was grazing cattle, Station House Officer at Dabi Police Station Budhi Prakesh Nama said. 

The body was fished out and handed over to his family members after post-mortem this afternoon, the SHO said. 

In another incident, 42-year-old Satyanarayan Saini, a resident of Maliyo ki Badi in Laxmipura area in the Bundi district slipped into an overflowing rivulet at around 12.30 pm on Wednesday. 

The rescue operation was immediately initiated, but he was dead by the time he was fished out, a police official at Talera Police Station said.
 
In the Kota district, a 16-year-old boy identified as Arun Harijan, a resident of Bapawar area, drowned while taking bath in the Ujad river on Wednesday, SHO at Sangod Police Station Mahendra Meena said. 

The rescue operation is underway as the body has not been traced so far, he added. 

Meanwhile, enraged people of Ratiya Chowki village here blocked the Kota – Jhalawar National Highway in protest of the flood-like situation in the village. 

They complained that the water from recently constructed highway entered into their village as the NHAI did not make proper arrangement of outflow of water. 

Police officials and Tehsildar of Ladpura area rushed to the spot and assured them to sort out the problem very soon following which they allowed the traffic movement on the highway.
