Government is with you, We will ensure full support: CM Pinarayi in relief camps
KOCHI: On Thursday, the Chief Minister reached out to people in the relief camps and assuring them that the government will ensure full support in repairing damaged houses and to rebuild completely destroyed ones. He stopped at three districts and visited the relief camps there. In a helicopter, he stopped at Chengannur, Kozhencherry, Alappuzha, North Paravoor and Chalakudy relief camps.
“Top priority is being given to cleaning of flooded houses. Government agencies and volunteers are working hard in large numbers to clean up houses and wells. The major problem people face when they to their homes is lack of household items. It’s to address this that government is taking steps for providing interest free loans to them,” said CM Pinarayi Vijayan at a news conference.
He started the tour with a visit to the camp at Christian College in Chengannur at 8:40am. He then went to Alappuzha and talked to people. The CM told that the camps located in schools are likely to be wound up after Onam vacation and the people in the relief camps at schools will be relocated to new ones. District collectors are directed by the CM to identify halls. “We have sought the help of armed forces for disposal of decomposed carcasses on a war footing. Also, we need to ensure that wells in flood-affected areas are cleaned properly. 60,593 houses have been cleaned till date, while 37,626 wells have also been cleaned,” the CM added.
