Kerala Floods: Rs 338 crore donation received by the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Till Wednesday evening, the CMDRF received Rs 338 crore donations. People from nearly 181 countries have contributed money through online gateway donations. cmdrf.kerala.gov.in and three lakh people have utilised this facility. Rs 129 crore were received through online payments alone.
“I will donate Rs 1 crore from my MP fund for rebuilding the flood affected areas,” said MP Binoy Viswam. He also had urged the Rajya Sabha chairman to give sanction for immediate utilization of the fund for rebuilding Kerala.
K M Mani, Kerala Congress chairman, said, “All MLAs and MPs of his party would donate one month’s salary to CMDRF.” Rs 5 crore has been donated to the CMDRF by Vijaya Bank. A check of Rs 4 crore has been handed over to the CM Pinarayi Vijayan by B R Shetty, founder of Finablr group and Chairman of Unimoni, UAE Exchange and NMC Healthcare.
“Several states have come forward with food and other essential commodities to the flood affected areas. Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have promised the supply of essential commodities. Telangana has already given 500 metric tons of rice and AP has promised 2,000 tonne and Chhattisgarh 2,500 tonne,” said CM Pinarayi Vijayan.
Rs 1.05 crore was contributed by the Pepsico Foundation to the relief fund. CEO Ahmed Al Sheikh handed over the cheque to the CM.
