New Delhi: Assam MP Badruddin Ajmal has filed a police complaint, alleging that he has received extortion calls demanding Rs 1 crore from a former Deoband MLA, a senior official said on Thursday.
Ajmal filed the police complaint three days ago in New Delhi district and the accused was arrested later, the official said.
The MP claimed in his complaint that the accused had been calling him up for the past two years.
He used to ask the MP to write a piece of land, the latter owned in Deoband, in his name or else transfer Rs 1 crore, the official added.
The former MLA had threatened the MP of dire consequences. Subsequently, Ajmal approached the police and a case was registered.
