Woman arrested for raising slogans against the BJP government granted unconditional bail
MADURAI: On Tuesday in Tuticorin a judicial magistrate S Tamilselvi granted unconditional bail to Lois Sofia, 22, who was arrested on Monday while she was on onboard a flight from Chennai for raising slogans against the BJP government at the Centre.
The woman is a research scholar in Canada belonging to the native of Tuticorin who is on a vacation, and was flying from Chennai to Tuticorin on Monday morning. Tamilisai alleged that the girl had raised slogans against the BJP government when they were in the aircraft.
As the woman refused to apologise, the BJP leader registered a complaint with the airport
and airline authorities. A case was registered against the girl at the Pudukottai police station in Tuticorin. Later, the girl was arrested.
On Monday night, the judicial magistrate remanded her in judicial custody. As part of the remand procedures, Sofia was taken to the Thoothukudi Medical College Hospital, where she complained of stomach pain and was hospitalised. And was being treated at the hospital when the same court granted her bail on Tuesday.
