Kerala Government orders for marking of flood water levels as done in 1924.
Thiruvananthapuram: On Wednesday the State Disaster Management Department issued an order to mark the flood levels of the recent floods. According to the order that was issued, flood marking plates will be fixed at all public places that will engrave the details of the highest level of water.
The plates containing flood level markings will be fixed in affected government buildings, electric poles, local self-government buildings, schools, hospitals, public libraries, public sector undertakings and buildings of government-aided institutions. "We still have markings of flood levels of floods of 1924 in some places. This will be useful for future reference," additional chief secretary (revenue and disaster management) P H Kurian said.
As per the latest government order, the flood marking plate should be fixed at the location where the building or the structure was affected the maximum during the floods.
