Kannur Airport receives its first Boeing, trials to continue
KANNUR: Kannur International Airport (KIAL), which is set for commercial operation in October-November, crossed an important milestone on Thursday, when Boeing 737/800 aircraft of the Air India Express landed successfully as part of the trial run.
The aircraft departed from Thiruvananthapuram in the morning, landed around 11:35 AM, after hovering above the airport for nearly 45 minutes. After landing, it performed a docking trial as well, by docking with one if the aerobridges in the airport apron.
The Aircraft was given water salute by airport fire tender units as it moved towards the apron. The crew members, led by captains A Sreenivasa Rao and Aravind Kumar were welcomed by KIAL managing director V Thulasidas and other official.
