Kerala Tourism set for International Campaign

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: State Government is in favour of an international aggressive marketing campaign abroad to resuscitate tourism sector in the deluge hit Kerala. ‘God’s Own Country’ will take part in international trade fairs and 26 Business to Business meet in International cities during the year 2018-2019 starting from October.

This International Campaign for the current fiscal will begin with a B2B meet in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on October 7, in Dammam and another one in Manama (Bahrin) on october 9 and 10. The Participation in International trade fair will begin with ITB Asia which will be held in Singapore from October 17 to 19 followed by World Travel Market (WTM) in London from November 5 to 7.

Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran, while announcing the immediate action plan, had said that the sector can not remain idle or take a break. The action plan gives thrust for better participation in the world tourism fair.

Due to deluge, although the Kerala tourism had kickstarter the International Campaign Kiiu in September, Government officials or the ministers did not participate in the events in Malaysia, Russia and Japan.

Marketing Agency Department facilitated participation of tour operators and property owners from the state in these fairs and they have also organised road shows (B2B meets) in St petersburg in Russia and in Osaka (Japan).

As per the plan made the kerala Tourism will have a better participation in WTM, London followed by participation in China International Travel Mart, Shanghai from November 16-18.

Kerala Tourism has been intensive promotions in two source markets China and Japan over the past couple of years, said the Official.
