Seize passports of bank defaulters: AAP

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party on Monday demanded the government seize passports of all the defaulters having bank loans of Rs 50 crore or more, amid reports that Nitin Sandesara, wanted in an over Rs 5,000 crore bank fraud case may have fled the country.

Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said on Monday that he had written to the CBI, Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Finance Minister in this regard but no action was taken.

"It could not be without the support of the government that bank defaulters are leaving the country without being caught by the agencies concerned," Singh told.

According to the media reports, Sandesara may have fled to Nigeria.

The ED had registered a money laundering case against the Sterling group and its absconding promoters Nitin and Chetan Sandesara in October last year.

Taking a dig at the Prime Minister, the AAP leader in a tweet in Hindi said, "Another Gujarat businessman fled abroad after looting Rs 5,000 crore.

Modiji has brought Bhagoda Yojana after the Pakoda Yojna. Loot the country and scoot".
