Ban porn websites

Update: 2018-09-30 05:30 IST

This is an era of technology. Nowadays, technology has a lot of influence on human beings. But some of the information in various websites is aimed at degenerating human values and ethics among people in the country. Especially porn web sites have been corrupting young minds and affecting their lives adversely.

Recently, Uttarakhand High Court asked the Centre to strictly implement ban on pornographic websites which has already caused several untoward incidents in the society. Central government three years ago issued a notification for the ban on porn sites. Yet, most of these websites are still thriving with vulgar contents to gain profits. Information Technology is very useful for day-to-day life and gadgets like mobile phones and internet usage have become part and parcel of human lives.

Most of the internet service providers are providing free and low-cost internet facilities to the people. Especially young minds get attracted to porn websites and they try to imitate and lose their discipline. As per Information Technology Act, 2000, Section 25, if any internet service license holder is violating this direction, they will lose their license. But in the implementation process, it is not being followed seriously by the service providers as well as the government. There seems to be no mechanism for checking the violations of such rules of the IT Act. So, government must take action on war-footing to curb porn websites to prevent inhuman activities in the society.
