Student who hit man on road held for carrying marijuana
BENGALURU: A 23-year-old law student whose car hit into an ex-servicemen's bike on the expressway to Kempegowda International Airport on Thursday was detained after members of the victim’s family found ganja in his bag.
HC Shailesh, a resident of Chowdeshwari Street, Avenue Road, and a fifth-semester LLB student of a private college, was carrying 60 grams of marijuana in four individual packets. Son of an advocate, he was produced before the court which remanded him in judicial custody.Yelahanka traffic police said the car hit the two-wheeler near Jakkur aerodrome around 12.10 PM.
The biker, Abraham A, sustained severe injuries, including a fracture in his leg. An ex-serviceman and resident of Anand Nagar, he was on his way to KIA to know about his provident fund. He fell on to the road and his right leg came under the car’s wheels. Abraham had an injury in the same leg and undergone an operation four years ago. The metal rod used in the surgery was crushed. He has been admitted to a private hospital.
Traffic police said Shailesh helped rush Abraham to hospital, where the latter’s relatives arrived. They searched his bag, found marijuana and informed traffic police. Later, law and order and arrested the student.
