NEW DELHI: On Wednesday the Congress chief Rahul Gandhi alleged that  Alok Verma the CBI director was sent on a leave against his will as he was collecting documents that are related to the Rafale 'scam'. CBI director Verma and special director Rakesh Asthana have been "divested of all powers" due to the ongoing spat between them.

Rahul Gandhi said in his tweet that, "CBI Chief Alok Verma was collecting documents relating to the Rafale scam. He was forcibly sent on leave. The Prime Minister's message is very clear that whoever comes near Rafale (issue) will be removed, wiped out.”

However, the finance minister Arun Jaitley dismissed these allegations that Verma was removed because he wanted to look into the Rafale fighter jet deal as “rubbish”. He said that the decision taken by the government to remove Verma and Asthana is based on the recommendation of the Central Vigilance Commission.

The Congress has been alleging that there are massive irregularities regarding the Rafale deal. The government has outspoken all these allegations.
