Two 19-year-old students attempt suicide in Bangalore
BENGALURU: On Monday two 19-year-old students attempted suicide by jumping from the second floor of their college building in Jalahalli. After being reprimanded by their parents and the faculty members in the presence of classmates for coming to college in an inebriated state last week. Syed Shoaib and Harish Kumar from Mathikere are being treated at MS Ramaiah Hospital.
On October 19 the I BCom students of St Claret College at Jalahalli off Tumkur Road were seen attending the class in an inebriated condition. “They were behaving abnormally. One faculty member noticed that both were drunk and asked them to sit in the library. Later, both were taken to the principal’s chamber who asked them to bring their parents,” police said.
On Monday afternoon their parents came to the college to meet the principal. As they were talking to the principal, Shoaib and Harish were asked to stand outside the room. Seeing them, other classmates and friends too gathered there. The parents came out of the chamber and began shouting at the duo. Along with some teachers. All of a sudden, Kumar ran and jumped from the second floor. Shoaib followed him.
However, as the second floor of the building was not that high and was just above 15-20 feet from the ground, both of them had some minor injuries, the police said.
