New Delhi: An alleged sharpshooter of the Ashok Pradhan Gang was arrested in Dwarka, police said on Sunday. The accused, identified as Vicky (28) alias Boxer, was a resident of Bamdoli village, near Dwarka, Delhi, police said.
The Gogi gang led by one Jitender has an on-going rivalry with the Sunil alias Tillu gang in Najafgarh and adjoining areas, officials said. "We got information that Ashok Pradhan was joining hands with Gogi gang.
They hired Vicky to shoot a member of the rival gang in Najafgarh," Deputy Commissioner of Police (special cell) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said. Upon investigation, the police found that Vicky had jumped interim bail in a Jat College (Rohtak) student's murder case.
Further the Haryana Police had announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for Vicky's arrest. Yadav said Vicky joined hands with Ashok Pradhan to threaten witnesses in the student's murder case.
On Saturday, the police received information that Pradhan and Vicky would go to the Ganda Nala in Mohan Garden, Dwarka to meet some of their associates.
The police identified Vicky at Ganda Nala waiting for someone. No one turned up, following which the police arrested Vicky, Yadav added.
During interrogation, Vicky said he joined hands with Ashok Pradhan to intimidate or kill the witnesses in the Jat College murder case. In return, he had to help Pradhan in finding one Sunil Kumar of the rival gang, the DCP said.
One loaded semi-automatic country-made pistol with two live rounds were recovered from Vicky's possession, Yadav added. Vicky was a gold medalist in the Junior National Boxing Championship in 2009 held at Dehradun, officials added.
