The missing BSEB answer sheets of class 10 in Bihar sold to scrap dealer
The Gopalganj police department have finally solved the case regarding the missing Bihar Board Class 10 exam answer sheets from Gopalganj SS Inter College. The 42,500 answer sheets, which were reported missing a day before the board was all set to announce the result, were actually sold to a vendor for Rs 8,500.
The Gopalganj police arrested the scrap vendor named Pappu Kumar Gupta and auto driver Sanjay Kumar who had transported the copies in his auto and have initiated an investigation in the matter.
"They regularly buy books and other scrap from the college (SS Inter College from where answer sheets went missing). It is fine if they bought it with the same purpose, but we are investigating if they had any other intention," Rashid Zaman, SP, Gopalganj told a source.
The arrested scrap dealer confessed to the police that he had bought all the “missing” answer sheets from an office attendant of the school, who has already been arrested. He further informed the police that it may be difficult to restore the answer sheets, as he had sold a whole lot earlier to a wholesale scrap dealer.
The police had recently found 200 empty bags from the backyard of the school. The BSEB had said that the missing answer sheets will have no bearing on the Class X Board results, because it has to be announced on June 26, since it has received the marks details soon after evaluation.
The BSEB has faced scandals before on toppers and affiliation, and is under the scanner for not putting it in place for a system of centralised secure rooms for keeping the answer sheets after evaluation.
