New Delhi: BJP president Manoj Tiwari and his supporters had a scuffle with AAP members as well as policemen at the inaugural event of the newly-built Signature Bridge, as the local MP felt slighted at not being invited for the function.  Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal termed the incident as "unprecedented".

Tiwari and his supporters had reached the venue early and started protesting on the ground that the BJP chief had not been invited to event though he was Member of Parliament from the area.

Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia were not present when the protest took place.

Reacting to the incident, Kejriwal tweeted, "Unprecedented. Chaos by BJP at Signature Bridge inauguration site. Its a Del govt prog. Police mute spectator. Can LG, being head of Del police, ensure peace and order at Signature bridge inauguration site?"

BJP, however, later alleged that AAP leader Amantullah Khan used abusive language and pushed Tiwari.

While registering his protest, Tiwari took a dig at the Kejriwal government, saying he was at the bridge to “welcome” the Chief Minister, who was scheduled to inaugurate the bridge on Sunday.
