Mistake by Rahul Gandhi over 'Kumbhakarna’ issue gives Modi a chance to take a jibe at him
NEW DELHI: On Wednesday the PM Narendra Modi took a swing at the gaffe of Rahul Gandhi, where he had referred to Choudhary Kumbha Ram Arya, who is the late Congress leader from Rajasthan, as 'Kumbhakarna'.
PM Modi, while addressing an election rally in the Rajasthan city of Sumerpur said that if the Congress leader cannot recollect the names of the former leaders of his party then how can he dream about power.
"Namdaar does not even know the names of his own party leaders. He did not even know the name of a very popular farmer and jat leader in Congress, late Kumbha Ram ji. He called him 'Kumbhakarna'. You can imagine what such people will do when in power," PM Modi said referring to the Congress president.
On Tuesday, while addressing an election rally in Rajasthan JhunJhunu, the Congress chief had been left angered when the scheme which is named after Arya was being called 'Kumbhakarna lift scheme'.
"Kumbhakarna lift plan? Kumbhakarna used to sleep for 6 months, Congress has been sleeping for 60 years and kept depriving the country from development," Union minister for Railways, Piyush Goyal, tweeted.
