CAG faulted payments to Polavaram contractor: Centre

New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Water Resources Arjun Ram Meghwal, in his reply to a question raised by YSRCP MP V Vijaysai Reddy in the Rajya Sabha here on Monday said that CAG had pointed out some payment irregularities in Polavaram and suggested recovery of the money. On whether the ministry was aware of the CAG remarks, the minister said some of the payments were not as per contract conditions.  

The state government had clarified that such bill amounts had been recovered from the running bills of the contractor, the minister further added. There were 1,05,601 Polavaram Displaced Families and only 3,922 such families had been provided with Rehabilitation and Resettlement work benefits.
